This month, we celebrate ESEO alumni whose achievements illustrate the diversity, ambition, and resilience of our community. From breakthrough research in sleep medicine to leadership roles in global consulting and inspiring personal journeys, these graduates demonstrate how ESEO engineers continue to shape their fields with purpose and passion.

Pierre BELLEC (ESEO 1992) is a true example of resilience and determination. After undergoing a double lung transplant in 2023, Pierre had to relearn how to walk, speak, swallow, and even breathe. Just two years later, he took part in the Nice–Cannes Marathon relay on November 9, 2025, running the segment from Cagnes-sur-Mer to Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

Once limited by a rare lung disease, he trained tirelessly at the Charles-Ehrmann Stadium in Nice — a powerful symbol of recovery and hope.

In parallel with this personal achievement, Pierre also runs his own business Nouvel Angle, pursuing his professional projects with the same drive and determination.

Pierre’s journey stands as a remarkable reminder that courage, perseverance, and the will to live can truly move mountains. 💪

Thibaut DE LA BOUVRIE (ESEO 2005) has been appointed Managing Director at BCG Platinion Paris, the Boston Consulting Group entity specializing in IT architecture, enterprise solutions, and cybersecurity.

With over 20 years of international experience in technology transformation, cloud strategy, and AI-driven innovation, Thibaut brings a deep expertise in helping major organizations — particularly in the financial sector — navigate complex digital transitions.

Before joining BCG, he led Deloitte’s Cloud, AI & Data Transformation practice across continental Europe, driving large-scale modernization initiatives and developing high-impact data and AI solutions.

Mélissa BARRAU (ESEO 2024) continues to make her mark in biomedical innovation. As a Research Engineer at CIDELEC, she recently took part in the 2025 Sleep Congress in Strasbourg, where she delivered an oral presentation titled “Automatic detection of micro-arousals: towards a reliable assessment of sleep fragmentation.”

Her work focuses on developing automated methods to better characterize sleep fragmentation, with the goal of supporting physicians in sleep analysis through reliable algorithms and confidence-based event detection.

This collaboration between CIDELEC, the Sleep Laboratory of Angers University Hospital, and several research partners highlights the growing role of technology and data science in advancing medical diagnostics.

Mélissa is not the only ESEO alumna advancing the field of sleep science this year — another talented researcher is also making waves...

Dr Margaux BLANCHARD (ESEO 2019), has been awarded the 2025 JSR Researcher Award – Sleep Technology Track by the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS).

This distinction recognizes her outstanding contribution and presentation during the eSleep Europe 2025 conference: “Comprehensive Visualisation of Ventilation Curve and Arousal Surrounding Respiratory Events: A Novel Endotyping Approach in OSA.”

Her research introduces innovative visualization methods to better understand respiratory events during sleep, paving the way for more precise diagnostics and personalized treatment approaches in sleep medicine.

ESEO is incredibly proud of these alumni and their great accomplishments.

These stories reflect the remarkable talent, perseverance, and vision of our alumni. Whether advancing scientific understanding, driving technological transformation, or overcoming extraordinary personal challenges, they embody the spirit of innovation and determination that defines the ESEO community. Their paths remind us that an ESEO education is not just a starting point—it is a platform for impact, reinvention, and lifelong growth.
