This month, we highlight four ESEO alumni who are contributing to major technological transformations across industries. From artificial intelligence and digital governance to fusion energy and circular materials, their work illustrates how ESEO engineers are helping shape the future of technology and innovation. Through leadership, research, and entrepreneurship, they continue to bring engineering expertise to some of today’s most important challenges.
Julien KOPP (ESEO 2005), AI and Automation lead @ Deloitte, recently appeared on Le Grand Débrief – Smart Tech (B SMART 4Change) to discuss the World AI Summit held in India. Framed around the themes “People, Progress, and Planet,” the discussion explored major global AI investments, technological sovereignty, and the growing need for responsible governance. Julien shared insights on AI adoption in companies and among the public, the strategic importance of cloud and data infrastructure, and the delicate balance between AI’s energy consumption and its societal benefits. His intervention highlighted the broader challenges shaping the global AI race—where innovation, regulation, and sustainability must evolve together.
Sam GUILAUME (ESEO 1990), CEO at Renaissance Fusion, recently attended FusionX Global in Munich, where his CTO and co-founder Francesco A. Volpe took part in a high-level roundtable on the commercialization of magnetic confinement fusion technology. The discussion brought together leading experts to explore how to accelerate the path toward viable fusion energy—addressing both technological breakthroughs and industrial scaling challenges. Sam highlighted the forward-looking nature of the exchange, reflecting his continued involvement at the forefront of deep-tech innovation and next-generation energy solutions.
Mounir BELHAMITI (ESEO 2008) has joined the SNCF Group’s Digital & AI Division as Director of Governance and Technological Transformation. In this strategic role, he will contribute to steering large-scale digital and AI transformations within one of France’s key industrial and service organizations. Emphasizing that technology only creates value when properly governed and aligned with collective needs, Mounir’s appointment reflects his expertise at the intersection of innovation, governance, and organizational transformation.
Maxime ROUX (ESEO 2015), co-founder of Ostrea, was recently featured on the French radio station Hit West (Ouest-France group). During a visit to the company’s production site, journalists highlighted how Ostrea transforms recycled seashells—such as oysters and scallops—into innovative, sustainable materials for architecture and design. The feature offered listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s circular economy approach and its mission to give new value to marine waste.
ESEO is incredibly proud of these alumni and their great accomplishments.
Across AI, energy, digital transformation, and sustainable innovation, these alumni demonstrate the wide-ranging impact of the ESEO community. Whether contributing to global tech discussions, leading major digital initiatives, or developing new solutions for a more sustainable world, they show how ESEO graduates continue to drive progress and innovation across sectors.
